A landmark building – it was the former archbishop’s palace. It is a set of three different buildings dating back from 1330 until the 18th century. It is now home to university offices and the public library and archives – storing more than 300,000 volumes and 10,000 valuable manuscripts.
You can’t visit the palace, try sneaking a peek at the main entrance – the azulejo tiles are splendid – go to the library, visit as much as you can, then get some rest next to the fountain of Jardim de Santa Bárbara in front of the oldest building, take a deep breath – enjoy the smells, close your eyes… listen to the city!
The garden looks amazing! 🙂
It’s a shame it’s not possible to see the palace!

The garden is full of flowers all year round! The old palace isn’t really worth a visit. It is just an enormous space used for special ceremonies. It’s practically empty – but the entrance is worth a peek because of the wonderful tiles! : D
