The Holy Cross Church displays an impressive granite baroque façade – built in the 17th century – its interiors have intricate gold carvings on the organ and pulpits, a high nave and wonderful tiles – azulejos. On its façade, apart from the scenes of the Passion, there are two roosters, and according to legend if one finds them on the first visit, he/she’ll soon get married! It’s not unusual to find people discreetly looking for the roosters in front of the church, some of them desperate to find his/her perfect match. The roosters might give a hand 😀 – would you like to give it a try?
