Tip: There’s a lot more than some images on a video – it’s hard to focus when temptation comes in so many different ways, live it, you won’t forget it, ever!

D. Diogo de Sousa Museum | Braga

The museum dates back 1918 and it is now in its new house since June 2007. The building was specially designed and it is in the centre of the Roman city of Bracara Augusta. Items from a large chronological and cultural period, found during excavations, are part of its collection. Its permanent exhibition comprises four rooms – from the Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age, the Roman Empire period, the tracing of Bracara Augusta urban development and the vestiges of the roads of the ancient Roman city – all can be appreciated along the visit. The visit also gives the opportunity of admiring a Roman house with a mosaic in its original place.

A visit to the museum is quite important to understand the value of a rich past – but the unexpected can emerge from the place. There is a cafeteria, a restaurant and an esplanade inside the museum – the service is excellent – you don’t need to visit the museum to use the premises.

From Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 5.30 pm – you can try the buffet at lunchtime (cheap and awesome) – remember archaeology isn’t always the most important thing in the world!
